"APA Group welcomes the proposed Victorian Energy Security Requirement policy which will support investment in the reliable, dispatchable energy generation needed for energy security and transition. We know significant investment is needed in new gas-powered generation and storage projects if Victoria is to securely transition away from coal. Alongside work to unlock new domestic gas supply, new policy that delivers long-term investment signals for gas and other firming projects will be critical to ensuring the generation capacity is available when needed to keep the lights on.

“APA continues to invest to support energy security in Victoria. The $213 million expansion of our South West Pipeline is now underway to deliver more Victorian gas into Melbourne to meet projected peak day shortfalls later this decade. We also continue to invest to expand our broader east coast network to move more Australian gas north to south to support the Victorian economy and ensure it doesn’t need to rely on expensive imported LNG."
