Sustainability and Environmental Impact
The 48 turbines at EDWF on average export 258,000MWh (megawatt hours) of energy per year. By generating this electricity from the wind instead of burning fossil fuels, this facility saves 180,000 tonnes of carbon emissions from entering our atmosphere every year. The energy produced is enough to power 50,000 WA homes per year.
The support team working on the EDWF mostly live in nearby Jurien Bay and are proud contributing members of the local community.
APA’s Western Australia Renewable Precinct have contributed funds to local community organisations over the past few years to help them with projects and initiatives that needed support. Some of them include: Badringarra Primary School, Marine Rescue Jurien Bay, Jurien Bay Men’s Shed, Cervantes Cultural Committee, Cervantes St John, and more.
