The Port Hedland Power Station provides a crucial source of electricity for Port Hedland and its surrounding industries. By being a dual fuel site, it has dramatically reduced the likelihood of disruption to energy supplies to critical infrastructure and local industry.
APA provides career building opportunities to the local community and supports local businesses by using their services to help maintain the power station. Specifically we hire administration and trades assistants from the local community, and are commencing an apprenticeship program in development.
APA employees live in the town of Port Hedland, contribute to the local community and add to the rich character of this area.
APA holds current Native Title agreements with the Nyaparli and Kariyarra Traditional Owners where the Port Hedland Power Station operates.
