APA is an ASX listed owner, operator, and developer of energy infrastructure assets across Australia. As well as an extensive network of natural gas pipelines, we own or have interests in gas storage and generation facilities, electricity transmission networks, and 681 MW of renewable generation infrastructure.

Some of these assets are subject to ring fencing obligations.

Electricity transmission ring fencing compliance

On 1 March 2023 the Australian Energy Regulator (AER) published the Electricity Transmission Ring Fencing Guideline (version 4) (the Guideline). All Transmission Network Service Providers (TNSPs) in the National Electricity Market (NEM) must comply with the Guideline.

APA operates the Directlink and Murraylink interconnectors which are both TNSPs. Directlink and Murraylink must therefore comply with the Guideline.

Information Sharing Protocol

Clause 4.2.3(d) of the Guideline requires a TNSP to establish an information sharing protocol that sets out how and when it will make the information referred to in clause 4.2.3(a) available to other legal entities and must make that protocol publicly available on its website.

Information register

Clause 4.2.4 of the Guideline requires a TNSP to establish and maintain a register of legal entities who have requested access to ring fenced information and to make that register publicly available.

Waiver register

Clause 5.7 of the Guideline requires a TNSP to establish and maintain a register of all waiver (including any variation of a waiver) granted to the TNSP by the AER and make that register publicly available.
