Gas Consumers

Information for households and businesses that purchase, or will purchase, gas from a gas retailer.

Floodwater-affected gas appliances need to be checked by a Licensed Gasfitter before use

APA repair crews have completed gas safety checks to approximately 4,000 homes in the affected area. This leaves approximately 1,000 homes still needing to be visited.

APA repair crews are active in all remaining areas and will work through till 10pm in order to reconnect residents as soon as possible.

While we are progressing in line with our reconnection schedule, due to the inability to gain access to all properties, there is likely to be a small number of homes still needing to be connected over the weekend.

A number of gas fitters will be in the area to respond to consumers who need assistance.

If you wish to safely turn on your gas supply by yourself, this link provides the instruction how to turn on your gas safely.

APA Group can advise the following:

  • Gas supply to the Coomera area has been restored following urgent network repair works that commenced on Wednesday afternoon (13 June 2018) after a third party damage.
  • At approximately 2pm on Thursday 14 June 2018, APA repair crews commenced a program of safety checks at affected homes to ensure appliances are safely reconnected.
  • On current estimates, approximately 2,000 customers will be reconnected on Thursday 14 June 2018 with the remaining approximately 3,000 customers reconnected on Friday 15 June 2018.

A reconnection plan (see above) showing the approximate sequence in which the network will be reconnected and safety checks carried out has been developed. Please note this was based on the technical and safety requirements of the network. Customers can contact 1800 643 183 for further information.

It is anticipated most of Zone 1 and 2 will be completed by 10pm on Thursday 14 June 2018, with the majority of the remainder being completed on Friday 15 June 2018.

APA manages and operates local distribution networks that deliver gas to around 1.3 million households and businesses in South Australia, Victoria, Queensland, country New South Wales and the Northern Territory. Two of the networks we own (Tamworth, in NSW, and Darwin, in the Northern Territory); one we have an ownership interest in (Allgas, in South East Queensland and northern coastal NSW); and the others we operate on behalf of Australian Gas Networks.

For most customers, your dealings will be mainly with your gas retailer. However, the information accessible in the following links may also be useful.
