Playing a critical role in the energy supply chain, and with operations spanning every mainland state and territory in Australia, APA impacts a wide variety of stakeholders. We know that it’s not only what we do, but the way we do it is important. Doing the right thing by all our stakeholders is imperative in ensuring the sustainable growth of our business.
A refreshed approach to stakeholder engagement
APA recently expanded its stakeholder engagement framework to ensure we’re better able to ‘bring the outside in’ when it comes to the ways we make decisions and execute on our strategy.
Listening to our stakeholders and responding to their needs is key to our purpose to strengthen communities through responsible energy.
Stakeholder Advisory Panel
We have established a Stakeholder Advisory Panel. This industry-leading initiative is designed to enable APA to share what we are doing with stakeholders and the broader community, as well as gain insights from Panel members about their interests, concerns and expectations.
Our inaugural Panel comprises senior representatives from a range of high-profile and diverse Australian organisations:
- Council of Small Business of Australia
- St Vincent de Paul
- National Native Title Council
- Australian Energy Council
- Clean Energy Finance Corporation
- Energy Users Association of Australia
- Chamber of Minerals and Energy of Western Australia
The Panel will act as a sounding board to APA on policy matters, strategic programmes and plans as well as identifying additional matters that Panel members consider of importance to their stakeholders.
Accordingly, feedback from the Panel will inform the agenda for our new Stakeholder Engagement Forums, which we intend to hold at least twice a year.
The first APA Stakeholder Advisory Panel meeting was held on 28 May 2021.
APA will be holding bi-annual Stakeholder Engagement Forums to inform stakeholders on APA business strategy, policies and programmes like our net zero ambition, our sustainability commitments and how we’re managing our regulated resets.
These Forums provide an opportunity for stakeholders to hear from us and also to ask us questions.
The first of these Forums was held on June 28 and you can watch a video of that discussion here:
Download the presentation here.
We look forward to sharing more news and information from these discussions as we work with our stakeholders on our vision to be world class in energy solutions.
Stakeholder reference groups
APA also runs a number of reference groups for infrastructure developments and regulatory resets.
Feedback from the reference groups will also help to inform topics of interest for future Forums.
