APA is conducting a modification to the existing pipeline, installation of additional pipelines and the construction of a temporary Pipe Inspection Gauge trap in Howe Reserve (near the corner of Station and Raglan Streets, South Melbourne). The works will enable the pipeline to be inspected, gauged and cleaned in order to ensure pipeline integrity and continued community safety.

The project also includes additional pipeline maintenance and inspection works in Cecil Street, South Melbourne, and Jones Road, Brooklyn.

The project includes early works on the stormwater pipes by Port Phillip Council; maintenance and construction of the pipeline; pipeline inspection works; and concludes with reinstatement works.

Project Timing

Construction works will modify the existing pipelines and construct new underground pipelines and fittings, and are expected to take approximately 12 weeks to finish. Once construction is finalised in April 2019, pipeline inspections and maintenance will occur at Howe Reserve; Cecil Street, South Melbourne; and Jones Road, Brooklyn.

Construction work will occur during the first half of 2019 and involve road closures, traffic management and detours.

The reinstatement phase will take place at the end of the construction phase and will see the works sites returned to their original state.

All works are expected to be completed by mid-2019.
