Employee benefits

APA makes a number of benefits available to its employees:

Learning & Development

APA is committed to fostering an environment where our people’s contribution is valued and knowledge and experience is shared.  We do this by providing opportunities to enhance your personal and professional capabilities and skills. At APA we have established a Learning & Development framework to support your career progression and ensure your skills are up to date in line with business requirements.

Assisted Education

APA has an Assisted Education policy which offers financial support and time off work to encourage our people to undertake formal education and development opportunities.  This can be done through courses of approved study that are relevant to the business and to the development of the employee’s career within APA.  They can be either at university, TAFE College, through a correspondence course, conference, seminar or workshop designed to enhance or develop job related skills and abilities.

Flexible work practices

APA has also implemented a flexible work practices policy to enable our people to make workplace arrangements that provide greater work/life balance opportunities.  These include:

  • Permanent Part Time Work
  • Job Share
  • Working from Home
  • Flexible Working Hours
  • Purchasing Leave
  • Career Break

The Australian Employers Network on Disability

APA is a silver member of The Australian Employers Network on Disability.   At APA we believe it is important that our organisation reflects the diversity of the communities in which we operate.  We understand the importance of diversity and supporting the wellbeing of our current employees. Membership of the Australian Employers Network on Disability helps us to recruit from the entire talent pool and minimise the effects of the labour market shortages, now and in the future.  It also helps us to recognise and remove any unintended barriers to the recruitment of talented and skilled people with a disability.

Employee Assistance Program

The Employee Assistance Program has been designed to provide assistance or advice with work related issues such as work relationships, conflict resolution, harassment or bullying as well as personal issues such as grief, loss and bereavement or stress, depression and anxiety.  This is available to everyone who works at APA.

Salary continuance insurance

As part of our employee package, APA offer’s the peace of mind of having an income stream in the event of total or temporary disability as the result of an unexpected illness or accident.

Health benefit discounts through Medibank Private

APA has negotiated special rates with Medibank Private to enable our employees to have affordable health cover.

Paid parental leave

At APA we want to support and encourage our employees to stay with the company for the longer term.  We offer 14 weeks paid parental leave.

Employee referrals

We encourage our employees to recommend qualified and talented candidates for vacant positions in the company. There are monetary rewards applied to any referral which goes on to become a successful application.

Supporting Women in the Workplace

APA has put in place programs to support, attract and retain women in our workforce.  For example 100% of women who take parental leave come back to work for us afterwards.   At APA we are committed to ensuring that people are not bullied, harassed or experience discrimination in the company.  The Fair Treatment@APA Program has been designed to ensure that our employees know their obligations and what is and isn’t acceptable.  All our people are expected to participate in the program.
